Best of Coney Quest: #3 - Chili Time

Alison's score: 4 out of 5
Clint's score: 3.8 out of 5
Average score: 3.9 out of 5

Chili Time making the Top 3 is a bit of a surprise. When we first visited Chili Time, Alison loved it and I thought it was just a little above average. Alison wanted to make Chili Time one of our revisits and I am glad she did. While it still wasn't my favorite coney, I did enjoy the coney a lot more on the revisit. I upped my score from a 3.5 to a 3.8.

Chili Time is a staple in the St. Bernard community. One thing we learned on our revisit is do not plan a trip there between 11AM-12:30PM on a Sunday, as Chili Time is a popular post-Church spot. Luckily there are plenty of hours in the day to visit Chili Time since they are open til 4AM on most days.

Much like Camp Washington, this is another chili that actually has some heat level to it. Even though they are both on the hotter side of the spectrum, we could tell they use different spices. Also, as Alison noted in her review, Chili Time had a thicker and meatier consistency. It is one of the better chili recipes we tasted on the quest. The cheese and bun were of equal quality as well. The one thing that held the Chili Time coney back was the hot dog, which was a little bland even for Cincinnati cheese coney standards. Despite that, its a very tasty coney and worth a trip to St. Bernard for.
